Winless Wednesday were the unlikely underdogs coming into this game but proved pundits wrong, winning an impressive 5-1.
Adedoyin’s pressure proved too much for the Posh’s defence in the 15th minute taking the ball past a static keeper and placing into an empty net to take the lead.
Just over 15 minutes later it was deja vu as a dire pass back was in Adedoyin’s feet with a cool finish into the bottom left.
The Owls took full control of the first half, with the Wednesday Trialist clearing the only Peterborough chance off the line. An early shot from Adedoyin set the Owls into pace never looking out of control.
The Owls came gliding out in the second half with a third goal from Adedoyin smashing into the roof of the net to secure his hattrick.
Once the third goal was scored the game dropped off when a win was in sight. Adedoyin was hungry for more and got his fourth in the 80th minute.
A comeback was unlikely, and the Owls became sloppy allowing substitute Kellan Hickinson to skip through the defence and slot past Jack Hall.
Owls couldn’t hold on to a first clean sheet for Jack Hall who yesterday signed his first professional contract. In the last dying minutes, Basile Zottos slid through to end the game 5-1.
Wednesday finally get off the mark eight games in, setting them in stride for their next contest, the Steel City derby at Bramall Lane on November 1st.
